We have updated our online proofing system with new features which include:
1. New colour separation preview functionality
2. The ability to show all comments at the same time and print them
3. A new freehand tool for adding comments
4. A new measuring tool
5. New options for displaying bleed/trim

After a lot of hard work we have been awarded with the above accreditation and are pleased to announce that we have formalised our quality management system to enable us to continuously improve our offer to our customers. It also means that we are working to British and International standards.

We are now offering the facility to view proofs online as part of a series of upgrades now taking place. This means that for customers with tight deadlines or where multiple reviewers need access to final proofs, jobs can be viewed and passed (or rejected) onscreen thus speeding up the time from order to delivery.

If you need your book converted into a format suitable for digital eBook readers, we now offer this as a service to our customers.

We use the ePub format, which is the publishing industry standard. We can also produce Kindle editions for Amazon.

The Russell Press has worked hard to achieve the Green Mark. Implementing two new recycling schemes and improving our system for dealing with hazardous waste.

Green Mark is an environmental certification which enables businesses and other organisations to improve their environmental performance and gain recognition for doing so.

Getting environmental certification is an absolute necessity for us as we were getting a lot of customers asking for it. It also fits in with the company’s ethos on the environment.

We have just installed new software and hardware which allows direct communication with our pre-press system and our Heidelberg printing presses resulting in more accurate ink settings and better quality control.

After many months of hard work reorganising our warehouse, purchasing, estimating and invoicing procedures, we were delighted to achieve FSC certification at the first attempt. This demonstrates our commitment to making our contribution to improving the environment.

Tom Woodward, General Manager, explains, “The Russell Press has always been an ethical company and we want to show that we purchase paper responsibly. Achieving this approved status is very much in line with our environmental aspirations.

“What we like about the FSC Chain of Custody system is that the paper is traceable from the paper merchant, and the paper mill, right through to the forest where the pulp is sourced. We are also pleased to do our bit to help eradicate illegal forestry thereby supporting the conservation of forests and wildlife worldwide.”

Our clients can now have the FSC logo printed on their publications (when using FSC accredited papers) to show that they are using an environmentally responsible printer.

We have recently purchased a new laminating machine, which now allows us to do all our lamination in house, thus saving on costs and time.
